The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2023 Ontario Sunshine List: Long-Term Care Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Long-Term Care's 124 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $15,458,760.03 in 2022.

At the top of the Long-Term Care Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Long-Term Care was Deputy Minister Nancy Matthews, who brought home $342,420.27 in 2022.

Following Nancy Matthews was Deputy Minister Richard Steele, with annual earnings of $300,135.73. Assistant Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Policy Erin Hannah made $260,719.52, Assistant Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Capital Development Brian Pollard made $216,545.92, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Operations Jeff Butler round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $201,500.73 for the Long-Term Care 2023 Sunshine List.
